In a land of clear colors and stories
In a region of shadowless hours,
Where the earth has a garment of glories
And a murmur of musical flowers.

Happy First Day of Spring!!

We have been celebrating spring for millennia. Who isn’t excited to see the promise of a lovely lazy summer with longer warmer days getting closer. This painting by Lawrence Alma Tadema from 1894 celebrates how he imagined a Victorian tradition for spring would have looked in Ancient Rome. So as you wrap up your first day of spring, consider how you might have celebrated 100 years ago or even 2000 years ago and then think about how you are going to celebrate TODAY!

Spring; Lawrence Alma-Tadema (Dutch, 1836 – 1912); 1894; Oil on canvas; 178.4 × 80.3 cm (70 1/4 × 31 5/8 in.); 72.PA.3
